parents: Newsletter, Writing Philosophy

  • Newsletter = public exhibition.
    • My newsletter is not a casual article, but a well-prepared exhibition.
    • An exhibition’s role is not only to show, but also to turn complex ideas into engaging stories or articles.
  • Exhibition depends on museum.
    • This museum is my Second Brain, my entire knowledge base.
    • The quality of the newsletters depends on the depth and breadth of my second brain.
  • Museum is filled with valuable artworks.
    • A museum is useless unless it contains valuable artworks.
    • In my second brain, these artworks are thoughts and insights stored in well-organized notes.

How to check it?

  1. Clear expression and good organization.
    • This is to respect reader’s time and attention. If my ideas are not expressed clearly, their value will be greatly reduced.
  2. Supported by >= 5 🌿 bud notes.
    • This is a quantitative standard to ensure depth.
    • A newsletter should synthesize substantial work, not just a single shallow idea.
    • This also forces me to build a solid foundation of interconnected ideas before publishing.
  3. Each 🌿 bud note shows deep thinking, is well organized, support by several 3 🌱 seed notes.
    • This ensure the quality of each building block.
    • This layered structure makes my thinking process step-by-step and solid.
  4. 🌱 Seed notes can be simple and do not need to fully organized.
    • Seed notes may be raw ideas, questions, inspirations, or whatever.
    • I give myself the freedom to explore.
